The Last Dungeon
Animation Ingestion
The Last Dungeon is an ambitious student project that uses Unreal Engine to create a cinematic short film. More than 90 students from SCAD Animation Studio put their hands on this film and brought it to life.
Animation ingestion for the Last Dungeon was a tedious prosses that required a month of the work of a small team. I started by figuring out the main issues that can occur when importing the animation clips. Then I set up a google file to keep track of the updated shots and progress. And finally, I trained two animators on how to use the UE and the quick ways to fix shots.

Take a look at the walk-through video explaining the work I've done:

Unreal Engine Short Cinematic Film
10 Week Challenge
Unreal Engine is an amazing tool that allowed me to create a short film and experience the pipeline from beginning to end in such a short period. A general understanding of UE and particularly the use of sequencer for animation and filmmaking was incredibly relevant to my future projects.

When starting out with no experience in using UE I relied on several DCC apps to achieve the best result and get used to the software faster. Using Vicon Live, Vicon Post, and Autodesk Maya I recorded and applied the Motion Capture to my character. I used control rig Manny as a placeholder before I learned and created a custom MetaHuman. I used retargeting tools to apply my animation clips to the new character.

Quixel assets were used to create the environments and set the mood. Camera work was one of the main aspects of the film that I enjoyed the most.
